Wired vs. Wireless

If you do take the plunge and move into the world of Apple, here's a little tip about wireless. It stands to reason that if you have a desktop PC near an Ethernet hub, you probably don't need wireless...right? Well, not so with Apple. Their Airport Networking system is actually an overlay that provides functionality not available through the traditional wired LAN.

Their Airport Express units allow you to acces the internet, play iTunes music through remote speakers using Air iTunes, expand an existing network and share a USB printer. But, none of these functions can be done on the wired LAN. So if you are ordering a desktop and plan to use any of this functionality, you should go ahead and kick in for the Airport Extreme card built-in.
